Full membership information

If you own a motor cruiser on the Thames and are over 18, we would be delighted to hear from you.

The club’s moorings and clubhouse are accessed via the weir stream to the west of Sonning lock.  Most boats in the club are cabin cruisers, ranging from 6 to 13 m length, but we also welcome day boats, and a few of our members own these.  Manoevering in the weir stream is somewhat restricted, so we do not normally take boats over 13.7m (45 ft) in length.  Depth restrictions also mean that boats over 1.0 m draft may have difficulties.

The club operates very much on a self-help basis.  We employ no full-time staff, so all day to day management is undertaken by the members themselves, and we encourage all members to get involved to the extent that they are able.

Membership can be in your sole name or jointly with your spouse or partner. The same annual subscription fee - which is currently £150 - applies in either case.  There is no joining fee.

If you are considering joining us, the best approach is to arrange to visit the club and talk to existing members.  Please begin the process by clicking the button below and filling in the online application. The form does not commit you in any way, but enables us to respond properly.  Any information you provide will be used solely for dealing with you as a member of Upper Thames Motor Yacht Club.  The club has a Data Privacy Policy which can be found here. Your data will be stored and used in accordance with this Policy.  If, having met us, you decide not to pursue your application, your data will be deleted.

During the boating season you will find there are members at the club most weekends who will be pleased to welcome you and show you around.  The clubhouse phone number is 0118 969 2683 but will generally be answered only at weekends. You may also contact us by email at membership@utmyc.org.
